Settings → Note rules.
This section is about letting the app tidy up for you. Everything is off by default: without your say-so, Loknot doesn't move or delete anything.
Auto-archive
Moves notes you haven't touched in a while out of the Unfiled list.
Windows: never (default), 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.
The clock starts from the last edit, not from creation. A note you touch every week will never be archived.
What auto-archive never touches:
- pinned notes;
- notes inside a folder;
- notes with tags.
The logic is simple: if you took the trouble to file a note somewhere, you clearly care about it, and the app has no business second-guessing that. Auto-archive only sweeps up the stuff nobody has looked after.
A hint above the Unfiled list — something like "will be archived in a week" — makes sure nothing takes you by surprise.
Archive cleanup
You can set the Auto-archive folder to empty itself over time.
Windows: the same list — from "never" to a year. Counted from the day the note entered the archive.
When the window is up, the note is deleted for good, bypassing the trash. Turn this on deliberately: if you're not sure, leave it at "never".
Trash cleanup
How long deleted notes sit in the trash before they're really gone.
Windows: the same list. Counted from the day of deletion.
Auto-sort by keywords
Files new notes into folders on its own.
How it works. You write a rule — "if a note contains the word recipe, put it in the Cooking folder" — and the app takes it from there.
Setting it up:
- Turn "Auto-sort" on.
- Tap "Add rule".
- Type keywords separated by commas:
recipe, dinner, cooking. - Pick a folder (or make a new one right here).
You can add as many rules as you like.
One important caveat: auto-sort ignores notes that existed before the rule did.
