What Loknot is
A note-taking app built on one simple idea: your notes belong to you.
- Everything works offline. Sync is opt-in, not a requirement.
- Notes on your device are stored encrypted. Even if someone gets hold of the phone's files, they can't read them.
- No ads, no third-party trackers. The app only reaches the network for two things: syncing your notes with your Google Drive (if you turned that on) and checking whether a new version is available.
- Nothing has to be set up before you can start writing. Every feature turns itself on when you need it.
First launch
The first time you open the app, it creates a short welcome note in your phone's language. Delete it whenever you like — it's just a regular note.
That's the whole onboarding. No sign-up, no account, no permissions to grant.
Three screens, and that's the whole app
Saved notes — everything you've written, plus folders, tags, search, archive and trash.
Editor — the screen where you actually write. It's what greets you when the app opens; it also opens when you tap a saved note or the plus button. A toolbar sits at the bottom; it stays collapsed until you tap it.
Settings — swipe right to open. They're split into six groups: Editor, Productivity, Note rules, Security and System. Each one is covered below.
Your first note in two seconds
- Tap the new-note button (+).
- Start typing. There's nothing to save — everything you write is stored the moment you write it.
- The first line becomes the note's title in the list.
- Swipe left and the note is already in your saved list.
That's it. Everything else is optional.
A few things worth setting up first
Not required, but these four are worth a minute of your time:
- Theme — light, dark or monochrome (Settings → System).
- Font and text size — so reading actually feels comfortable to you (Settings → Editor).
- Sync — worth turning on if you use more than one device or want a copy in the cloud (Saved notes → cloud icon → "Backups" screen).
- PIN — for an extra layer of privacy (Settings → Security).
